Sugiyam sweet

Sweets are loved by everyone from kids to adults. We buy sweets from shops or  make different varieties of sweets at home. But this sugiyam is a healthy sweet made with Jaggery and rice. It is traditional sweet  made during festivals. This will satisfy your taste buds craving for sweet.Try it and enjoy the sweet.  Ingredients Raw rice -1 cup Urad dal-1/4 cup Water - 1 cup Grated jaggery- 2 cups Boiled Chana dal-1cup Grated Coconut -5 tablespoons Cardamom -2 A pinch of salt  Oil for frying Method  Wash and soak the rice and urad dal for 2-3 hours.Grind it and make a batter .It should be in  the idly batter consistency. We can make it at home in 30 minutes and give your family a  soft healthy homemade badusha.Kids will love them a lot.  Ingredients All purpose flour (maida)-2 cups  Melted ghee 1/2 cup Baking soda -1/2 teaspoon  Baking powder-1/4 teaspoon  Sugar- 1 cup Water -1 cup Lemon -half Water  Oil for frying  A pinch of salt  Method In a bowl add maida, baking powder, baking soda,salt and mix well. Red aval payasam

Payasam is a traditional sweet made in India during festivals.And it is a easy sweet to satisfy all the sweet lovers. There are  more than 100 varieties of payasam .It can be made  with sugar or Jaggery .The red aval payasam is a mouthwatering sweet.  Ingredients Red aval( poha)- 1 cup Sugar- 1/2 cup Milk 1 cup Water- 1/2 cup Cashews -10 Dry grapes -10 Cardamom-3 Ghee-2 tablespoon Pinch of salt. Note: you can use white aval instead of red.Jaggery can be used instead of sugar. But Jaggery should be dissolved in water and boiled till sticky and single sting consistency before adding to payasam. Method Wash and soak the red aval in water for 15-20 minutes.In a pan add milk and water boil for 3 minutes and add the soaked red aval in the pan.Boil till the aval is completely cooked. Crispy Dal vadai

The vadai or vada is a famous south Indian dish.We make many types of vadai at home.The common one is urad dal vadai(medhu vada).Other types of vadai include masala vada,keerai vada etc. But this is a different style vadai made with 3 dals.We all think we should not eat fried food.But actually vadai is a healthy food, if you eat it once in a while.That is once in a week is fine. This vadai is rich in protein and vitamin B.If we use full black urad dal with black lentils it will be more healthy. Spinach has high fiber and iron content.Spinach should be included in our daily meal or atleast 3 times a week to have a balanced diet.All types of spinach are good for heath.This keerai masiyal is a yummy and easy dish that can be made in 15 minutes.It will be colourful and kids those who don't like spinach also will love to eat.  Ingredients Siru keerai or arai keerai- 1 bundle  Green chillies-10-12 Onion -1 Mustard -1 teaspoon Urad dal - 1 teaspoon Hing -1/4 teaspoon  Oil - 2 teaspoon  Salt as required.  Method  Wash the spinach thoroughly in water. In a pan add water and then put  spinach.Add the green chillies and onion to it.Let it cook for 10 minutes. Rava kesari

The kesari is the simplest sweet made in home for all occasion.But we all have the habit of  adding colorful food color to it.It adds color to  kesari as well as effects our health. This kesari recepie is without any food color .A white yummy kesari.Try this and enjoy a healthy sweet.  Ingredients Rava - 1 cup Sugar -1/2 cup Cardamom -2  Water required -250 ml A pinch of salt  Ghee-3 tablespoon Cashews-10 Dry grapes -15 Method In a pan dry roast the rava in low flame  till the aroma Comes.Transer to a plate. Boil some hot water and keep it  ready. Add the water to rava and cook for 3 minutes. Add the sugar to rava and mix well till the sugar  dissolves add a pinch of salt and cardamom  and cook for 2 minutes.In a tempering pan add 3 tablespoon ghee.Fry the cashews and dry grapes till golden brown.Pour the tempering over the kesari and mix. Crispy Murukku

The word snacks makes us feel happy. The snacks Which are store bought might not be healthy and cause health issues. We can make simple mouthwatering  murukku at home to satisfy our taste buds. A crispy snacks in the evening is loved  by everyone at  home. Ingredients Rice flour-4 cups Urad dal flour-1 cup  Cumin or sesame-3 tablespoon Butter -2 tablespoon  Salt to taste  Oil for frying  Method To make urad dal flour dry roast the urad dal till golden brown.Make a fine powder. In a wide Plate take rice flour, urad dal flour, cumin,butter and salt .Mix all the ingredients till they combine well. Add the required water and make a soft  dough. Heat oil in a heavy buttom  kadai till the oil is very hot. Fill the murukku achu with dough. Turn a plate upside down and make murukku. Drop them into the hot oil. After 2 minutes flip the muruku. It is a south Indian cuisine that is served with idly and dosa.But have you tried mint coconut  chutney it is a mouthwatering and healthy chutney. All are familiar with potato chips.But have you tried to make chips with raw banana.It is more tasty  and simple process than potato chips. Ingredients Raw banana-3 Lemon-1 Pepper powder -2 tablesoon Chilli powder -1 tablespoon Salt to taste Oil for frying  Method The raw banana should be nicely ripened.But it should not change to a fruit. We should consume it in our daily Meal.Let us see how to make a mouth watering curry leaves podi. Ingredients Curry leaves -250 grams  Dried red chilli-25 Toor dal-5 tablespoon Pepper-3 tablespoon Cumin-2 tablespoon Hing-1/2teaspoon Salt to taste  Method  Buy fresh curry leaves. It would be better if you use curry leaves from plant at home.  Wash the leaves and drain the water. Dry it in shade till the leaves turn crispy.Dry roast the other ingredients one by one.Let them cool.Put all the items in mixer and make a fine powder.Add salt and hing powder.Mix them well for the salt to combine.Serve the curry leaves podi with gingely oil or ghee .Enjoy the yummy and healthy podi with idly,dosa and rice.Have it daily to get maximum health benefits.

All of us like to have idly and dosa for breakfast.But to find a side dish for it is very tough.A very yummy side dish is the Kara podi or milagai podi.But all of us prefer to buy packed podi and pickles.The packed ones might not suit our taste .It may not be organic.so you can prepare and keep this ready.And make a tasty and healthy breakfast from your family Ingredients Channa dal- 1/2 cup Urad dal- 1 cup Red chilli-25 Pepper-1tablesoon Cumin-1 tabesoon Hing-1/2 teaspoon Sesame-3 tablespoon Salt to taste Method Heat a heavy buttom Kadai.In the low flame dry roast the ingredients one by one. Let it cool down completely.Then add all the items to a mixer and grind them to a fine powder.Add the required salt. Store it in a  tight container upto 2-3 months.Add sesame oil or ghee to the podi and serve  with idly and dosa.Enjoy a delicious breakfast.

Multigrain wheat flour

Wheat flour is used often in our daily cooking.The store bought wheat flour contains preservatives and might be adulterated.All of us think that it is difficult task to make homemade wheat flour but it is very very simple process.The homemade wheat flour gives soft chappati and poori.Wheat flour is  also used in baking cake,cookies and bread.cook delicious food using homemade wheat flour. Ingredients Wheat grains - 2 kgs White channa-1/2 kg Dried maize-1/2 kg Barley-250 grams  Method Wash the wheat grains to remove small stones and dust.Dry them under the sun for 4-5 hours till the moisture is dried completely.Add the other items and give to the flour mill for grinding.Grind it to a smooth powder.Store it in a air tight container for upto 6 months. Ragi flour sprouted

Homemade chilli powder

The main ingredient we use in cooking all kinds of cooking  is chilli powder.But most of us buy them from shops in packets. There are preservatives in them and the tastes it gives will not be like homemade and suit our taste. Instead we can make chilli powder at home easily.In homemade chilli powder we can adjust the taste according to our requirements. Ingredients Dried red chilli-11/2kg Corriander seeds (Danita)-1 1/2kg Turmeric-250 grams Sombu-50 grams Curry leaves -100 grams  Feungreek-50 grams Toor dal- 250 grams Cumin-50 grams  Pepper-50 grams  Hing-2 tablesoon Dried ginger (Sukku)-50 grams Ponni Rice-100 grams Method Sun dry the Red chilli, coriander seeds and turmeric sepertaly for 2 days.Dry the curry leaves in shade for a week till the moisture is completely dried. After the chilli and curry leaves are dried it should be crispy.once it is crispy add all the other  ingredients together and give it to flour mill for grinding. Grind it to a smooth powder....
