Homemade chilli powder

The main ingredient we use in cooking all kinds of cooking  is chilli powder.But most of us buy them from shops in packets. There are preservatives in them and the tastes it gives will not be like homemade and suit our taste. Instead we can make chilli powder at home easily.In homemade chilli powder we can adjust the taste according to our requirements.

Ingredients

  1. Dried red chilli-11/2kg
  2. Corriander seeds (Danita)-1 1/2kg
  3. Turmeric-250 grams
  4. Sombu-50 grams
  5. Curry leaves -100 grams 
  6. Feungreek-50 grams
  7. Toor dal- 250 grams
  8. Cumin-50 grams 
  9. Pepper-50 grams 
  10. Hing-2 tablesoon
  11. Dried ginger (Sukku)-50 grams
  12. Ponni Rice-100 grams

Method

Sun dry the Red chilli, coriander seeds and turmeric sepertaly for 2 days.Dry the curry leaves in shade for a week till the moisture is completely dried. After the chilli and curry leaves are dried it should be crispy.once it is crispy add all the other  ingredients together and give it to flour mill for grinding. Grind it to a smooth powder. The chilli powder will be hot. Let it cool down completely before storing it in a air tight container. You can Store it for about 5-6 Months .If you refrigiate you can store it for a year.
